A Little Bit of History
As a fourth generation farmer on his family farm in Howard County, Maryland, John Dove has set out to meet the needs of his community and support local agriculture. John has always been passionate about farming and after years of producing conventional crops, including hay, John has taken an interest in diversifying the family farm operation.
After working on an organic farm, John adapted organic farming techniques and developed a new vision for his family farm. John, along with Courtney, explored different sustainable ways to manage the farm as an effort to increase income and sustainability. It was in 2010 that Love Dove Farms, LLC was established by John and Courtney as a new era of Dove Farms.
During the first year of production, John and Courtney worked on 1 acre of land. Every year, they doubled their operation, and are now working on a little over 10 acres of land. They have built five high tunnels and a deer fence to increase their production and protect their delicious produce. As their sixth season starts, John and Courtney plan to keep the size of their land the same and increase production through efficiency.
In recent years, we have made the decision to step away from growing produce and instead grow our family. We have 2 beautiful daughters so far and John now works as a Financial Advisor.
